Curriculum - Owls - Spring 1, 2012
This is an outline of work that the children will be doing this half term.
Literacy |
Y1 children will be focusing on writing correct letter sizes, using full stops and capital letters correctly, some will also be using commas. We will be doing group reading sessions reading non-scheme books with assistance, discussing in order to assess their level of understanding and their ability to answer in a correct sentence. They will be encouraged to practise using all of the reading strategies. |
Numeracy |
We have two teaching assistants working alongside the class teacher in order to split the children into year groups to improve differentiation. |
P.E./Games |
The children will have a lesson on Wednesday and Thursday. Please could children bring named indoor and outdoor kit and leave this in school as we do change lessons depending on weather. The children will be practising netball and basketball skills including passing the ball, moving to a space and defending. They will also be skipping and playing team games. |
Music |
The children will be using musical instruments to learn about tempo and structure and hopefully will be creating some compositions. |
Art/DT |
Using our woodland walk for inspiration the children shall be representing items found and seen in a form of their choice using skills already learnt. |
RE |
The children will be learning about what makes some religious places special. |
I.C.T. |
Y1 will be learning about the information around us. |
Science |
Y1 Ourselves Senses linking with animals. |
History |
The children will be learning about famous people. Thank you for the amazing quality of the holiday homework. |
PSHE |
The children will be learning about developing a healthy and safe lifestyle. They will also be thinking about our value honesty |
