In Leopard class this term we will be following the National Strategies for Literacy and Numeracy.

Mrs Gent

Both year groups will be covering data handling, calculating, measuring and understanding shape, securing number facts. Where possible please encourage your child to play any internet based games that they have used in class.

 

 

 

Literacy

Mrs Hawkes

Both year groups will continue to work on spelling, handwriting, grammar and comprehension skills. We will exploring different forms of poetry for this half of the term.

 

 

 

History

Our topic is “Children in the Second World War.” We will be visiting Duxford and also having an afternoon in school, on 22nd June, for children to talk to people who remember the war. If you know anyone who you think would relate their experiences well, please let me know.

 

DT

Mrs Gent

In this unit the children will design and make a case. It could be for money, an ipod, a mobile phone etc. They will be focusing on the fastenings and aesthetics.

 

Science

Mrs Gent and Mrs Miller

Year 4-Mrs Gent will be teaching electricity and circuits. The children will learn to make different circuits including an interactive clown face and safe use of electricity.

Year 3-Mrs Miller will be teaching light and shadow. The children learn about the formation of shadow, the track of the sun through the sky and will make shadow puppets.

RE

Our theme for the second half of term will be “Food in Religion” We will look at how different faiths share food, how their beliefs affect what they eat and the idea (but not the reality) of fasting.

 

Information Communication Technology

Mrs Gent and Mrs Cutmore

Year 4 will be looking at modeling effects on screen by using the logo program and the floor turtle.
Year 3 will be revising the units they have learnt through the year.

 

Physical Education

Mrs Gent and Mrs Hawkes

We are playing tennis on Mondays and practising for sports day on Wednesdays.

 

 

 

Music

We will continue to develop songs and to make compose simple pieces. Year 4 will be working on their Leaver’s song.

 

PSHE
Mrs Gent
We will be learning sex education. Please refer to the plan that has been sent home for further details.

Homework will be given out on a Wednesday and is due in the following Monday. If your child finds homework difficult, please let us know and we can help them in school. Work may be sent home during the week if your child needs a little reinforcement, or if they have not completed work in the lesson. P.E. is on Mondays and Wednesday. Please ensure your child has a full P.E. kit, including socks and trainers or plimsolls and that all school uniform is clearly named.
